Noraccom’s approach fosters self-sufficiency in a neighbourly living environment.

Support staff are available during the day, and a lead tenant is there at night.

“Our daughter… did not know the meaning of independence and decision-making until given the option of living independently.   Her home at Noraccom has given her these qualities and the ability to live the life of most young women in their 30s.

“The atmosphere is so warm and friendly and her fellow residents have bonded together to become a real family.  Give them a chance to live their lives!!”

My name is Monica.

“My name is Monica. I’ve been living here for quite a long time now. Nearly nine years.

“I used to live with my parents, but then I moved here. You know. They can get on with their own life now. I’ve got my own room and my own bathroom. It’s nice, like your own place but there’s other people around.

“We do stuff together. We watch TV. Going out, shopping, things like that. I’m going to the golf club tomorrow night. I don’t play golf. I’ve got a problem with my hip and I’m having an operation. My boyfriend and I have dinner at the golf club. We like going to films too. I love films. I go to lots of films. I like the big Hollywood ones. My boyfriend lives with his parents. Sometimes I have dinner there, but we like going out. We’re engaged.

“I’ve got a job as a process worker. I make things. You know those things you use to clean bottles? I make them. I have to twist them together. I’m good at it, so they’re giving me a pay rise. Sometimes I make other things too. The extra money helps pay Noraccom and some of it’s my spending money. Lyn helps us find jobs. Mary’s rapt because she got a job at the Nursery, and she’s always loved gardens and flowers and stuff.

“We all get dinner together. Well, Lyn cooks, but we all help. They’re setting the table now. Lyn brings us back into line if someone’s being naughty. She’s like the boss of the house. She lives in the place in front.

“Well, I better go now because we’re having dinner.
Nice talking to you.
Bye!”
